Well, we sell it for $389. That is really about as low as it can go
right now. I have seen postings of things lower, but I don't know about
the $299 prices. Talked to Panasonic just the other day and they say
that the price that it is at is going to be the lowest. Panasonic/3DO
are very, very smart. They know how to get a system out the door. You
see, they made it in the beginning so that resellers could make money by
selling the units. At one point everyone was making around $40.00 per
unit! Even at the falling prices we were making $40.00 and we were still
being competitive with others. Even though there weren't any games out,
we were selling systems and making money. Atari on the other hand, no
games and no money for the resellers so why sell it? Dumb. Now that the
games are coming out on a regular basis, we make almost nothing on the
reduced price Panasonic 3DO's and make up the difference in game sales.
Atari still has no games out for resellers to make any money. There is
no money in selling Jaguar but there is money to be made in selling 3DO
and a bunch of games.
3DO/Panasonic is very, very smart.
sorry about getting a little carried away.......If you want our phone,
Mail me......
